Infrared Illuminators

Infrared Illuminator or simply IR, is a source of infrared light which is invisible to human eye. Basically it is a flashlight emitting infrared light instead of a visible white/yellow light. As an accessory for your camera device, it is used to increase available light for brighter image. These are needed in low light or no light situations where a camera is used.

If you are not sure what type of infrared illuminator you need, please contact us by Email or call toll free 888-376-2288.

Infrared Light is light just beyond the red edge of the visible spectrum, ranging from 700 nanometers (nm) to 1 millimeter (a nanometer is one billioneth of a meter). The higher the nanometer rating the less visible the infrared light. No safety hazards are connected with infrared light, but all users should avoid prolonged eye exposure to the infrared beam.IR illuminators come in the following two wavelengths to give the highest quality possible:
  • 850nm - Light is faintly visible at the bulb source
  • 940nm - Light is invisible to unaided vision
